How does it work?

Step 1: Book a Call

When this has been booked I shall send you a link for a video coaching call via Zoom or Facetime.

Book A Coaching Call

Step 2: 121 video call

We will have an in-depth chat about your training history, including past injuries, races, results, PBs, and talk about your goals and ambitions, plus any nutritional requirements.

Step 3: Custom fitness plan

I will use this information to create a fully bespoke 4-week training plan, specific to your requirements and deliver it to the LK Fitness app within 7 days.

It takes this long because every training plan is custom-created for the member - there are no generic plans with my athletes

Step 4: Ongoing 121 coaching

You log your workouts in the app so we can both keep tabs on your progress, and we will update your training plan every 4 weeks to keep pushing you and keep you motivated.

Constant support is offered throughout with in person coaching sessions, video calls, unlimited in-app messaging and personal video feedback, so you’ll be fully guided through your training.

Many athletes tend to work with me fairly closely with weekly sessions so that we can work on specifics and eliminate weaknesses.

How do you train?
I got asked this question this week and thought I'd share some footage.
My training consists of
Swim
Bike
Run
Weights.
All depending on where I am in my training cycle and if I have an event coming up I will ramp up certain elements of my training to facilitate the event.
Normally 6 weeks out I will go into peak weeks where I increase the volume topping out at 15 - 20hrs of training per week but out side of the events I will maintain my fitness so i am ready to go again at 6 weeks notice.
Why wouldn't you choose this life?
In my eyes be as active as you can so if you did want to do an event you are not starting from rock bottom.
We have the London Marathon round the corner
Hows your training going?
Let me know if you need help with your training.

It seems so simple....
Swim 2.5 miles
Bike 112 miles
Run 26.2 miles
On the outside it seems very simple. Lean forwards and don't stop.
However what your body has to go through during one of these ultra endurance events is extreme and one that you have to prepare for
Just to make it to the start line is an achievement.
You have to have a plan for your training and a plan to execute the race.
The day before - Last meal eaten 12hrs prior to starting.
Race morning looked like.
3am - Wake up call for breakfast. Give time for the body to digest that.
4.30am - Leave the hotel room and drive to shuttle bus station.
4.45am - On Shuttle bus to travel to swim start.
5.10 am - Arrive at swim start for final prep checks on the bike and get ready for the swim.
6am - Swim Start.....Go Time!
There is a massive amount of prep throughout training and for the race day itself.
This is just for an Ironman.
But to prep correctly for any performance whether its a marathon or your next game/match. It needs to be thought about and executed correctly.
Are you ready for your next event?
#ironmanuk thanks for a great event. Amazing crowds and an amazing day. Well done to @tom__mac and @yianni_charalambous for achieving the first finish line. What a journey and proud of you both.
What's next 🤷‍♂️?

With #ironmanbolton 2022 fast approaching I took myself away to the Barcelona mountains to get a 4 day run block in the hills boxed off.
As the marathon is a hilly one it was important to get this done to prep the legs.
Looking forward to the challenge.
#ironmanbolton 2022 let’s have it!

Why do we do it?
This is a great question, and if you could ask 100 people, you will get 100 different answers.
For me it’s all about discipline and the mental battles.
It’s about those 5am wake up calls to jump on the bike to do your long rides, or it’s about the pending thought or jumping into the cold water of a lake or sea when the sun is rising when all you want to do is ignore the alarm clock and go back to sleep.
However, despite these thoughts that plague me everyday through my training for a race I know that you must be disciplined and put the work in to beat these courses.
There is no way round it. It is as simple as that.
Everyone who turns up on race day has had the same journey. You know that everyone has been through the same tough times through training but as the saying goes. Train hard race easy.
The great Mike Tyson once said, ‘discipline is doing things you don’t want to do but do them great.’
Training for an Ironman is a lonely existence. You might have a group you swim, bike or run with during the week but ultimately you will be doing 90% of your training on your own. You must have that discipline, that drive, that internal motivation to want to better yourself and prepare the best you can.
That is what I am addicted to. The discipline, the structure, and the wild mental battles you have with yourself every day and throughout the race.
The mind will always want to quit first. Turn the voice off and concentrate on the next rep, then the next rep and the next until the task is complete.
If we use that approach to everything we do in life, and you do your very best, you can’t lose.
#lanzaroteironman you were a beast! But I enjoyed the ride.
Onto the next one. 💪

Words I read on a regular basis.....
If—
BY RUDYARD KIPLING
If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
Lets Go!!

Words I read on a regular basis..... If— BY RUDYARD KIPLING If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies, Or being hated, don’t give way to hating, And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’ If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son! Bike Strong-
I am a firm believer that strength benefits endurance and endurance benefits strength
How you train both at the same time though is a tough nut to crack
