LK PERFORMANCE Training Camp

Come and train with us

Dates for 2024 –

April 20th – 27th

Our Training Camps

Is it a training camp or is it a holiday? Given the the landscape and the itinerary of the week, it’s too hard to be a holiday, but our attitude to training is too relaxed to be a super serious training camp.

It’s somewhere in between a training camp and a holiday. However, this is your holiday so you can push yourself as hard as you like.

Come and train with me for the week and I will show you why I Swim, Bike and Run where I Swim Bike and Run.

The Perfect Location

We´re based between the Sierra Nevada mountains and the Costal Tropical which is blessed with 320 sunny days a year making it a perfect location for your Training Camp.

The Costa Tropical takes its name from the sub-tropical climate which enables the cultivation of exotic crops such as mangoes, bananas, and citrus. With warm winters and long hot summers, the average year-round temperature is 20c.

The Costa Tropical is the perfect place to train and get those important miles in.

We´re situated in the famous Alpuiarras region where the beach is only a 15-minute drive away with cool coffee shops which is perfect to grab some food and drink after some smooth metres in the warm Mediterranean Sea.

This is on the warmer southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, with easy access to the warm coastal routes of the Costa Tropical. The area boasts lots of traffic free, quiet, country roads, making it a perfect for Cycling and some beautiful trails for the runners amongst us.

The Itinerary

The training schedule written below is subject to change and is meant to be representative of the style of training scheduled to help your planning. Level Of Athlete

To participate in our camp, a good level of fitness is required.

Swimming

All swims on this camp are open water swims. This takes place in different locations along the coast. We love swimming in the crystal-clear warm waters of the Mediterranean and I am sure you will do to.

Swim Ability

We do advise that you get prior experience in open water swimming and that your able to swim 1500m with a wetsuit in the open water.

Cycling
The area where we are based is mountainous with lots of challenging climbs. Therefore, most days you will be climbing and descending. However, if you’re used to tackling long rides on the weekends you will enjoy the challenge ahead. If you not a cyclist but want to join our rides then there is an option to join in with a lower ability group or even jump on an e-bike so you can tackle the climbs.

Cycling Ability

Ideally, your weekly long spin is 3-4 hours long covering around 70 – 100km. You should have prior ability of completing rides that elevates up to and over 5000ft of elevation

Running

The run sessions will be structured in a way that will benefit all abilities. There will be a mixture of trail, road, and coastal runs over varying distances.

Running Ability

1hr 10km
2hr 1/2 marathon

It is a fitness holiday after all so a little effort is required!

For 2023, we will break the groups into the following categories:

Swimming

  • We will swim as one group for safety but will be structured in a way that will cater for all abilities.

Bike

  • Advanced – this group will typically cycle around 5 hours per day with at least one major climb each day at a steady pace. Most days will be around 100 kilometres with over 2,000m of climbing.
  • Intermediate – a slightly easier pace than the advanced but would tackle a similar route each day to the advanced group. Most days will be around 70 to 100 kilometres with around 1,000m to 2,000m of climbing each day.
  • Leisure – as the name suggests this group will take it’s time visiting some of the best cafes and places for lunch that the area has to offer, and we will of course throw in a few spectacular climbs along the way. This group is great for non-cyclist also.

Run

  • All run sessions will be structured in a way to cater for all abilities and will take place as one group.

It’s our aim to cater to our guests needs. This may mean increasing or decreasing the length of the sessions to suit the needs/capabilities of our guests. If you have any concerns regarding your suitability, please feel free to contact us. The main aim of the week is to go away in better shape than you arrived, challenged, invigorated, and have had some fun whilst enjoying the warm sunshine of Southern Europe.

Please be advised that you may be asked to change group.

Partners Are More Than Welcome To Join THe Trip

Do you have friend or loved one who would like to come but doesn’t want to take part in the camp?

No problem at all. They are welcome to come and hang out with us! While the sessions are during the day, evenings are free time so why not go out and explore the area together, enjoy nice meals and some local wine. There is also a free day on the itinerary to spend together. Prices for non-campers on request.

Check out flight comparison site Skyscanner.net for the best deals on flights from your nearest airport to Malaga International Airport.

If you would prefer to hire a bike rather than bring your own then we have a selection of rental bikes from Specialized and BMC. We have also a selection of electric bikes if anyone needs a little assistance.

Dinner will be an organized dinner in either a local restaurant or we will take you to another town for a bit of variety.

Accommodation is on a self-catering basis and we will provide each apartment with a welcome hamper with breakfast staples. There is a café beside the bike workshop that does breakfast too.

The beaches of the Costa Tropical and the larger town of Motril are only 10kms. Local taxis are relatively inexpensive, and a return trip can be arranged if requested.

While nothing is guaranteed the temperatures for this time of year are typically very pleasant. The same week 2022 had daily highs of 23 degrees Celsius.

If you have any other questions you have regarding this training camp please contact me.
